Pedagogy

This is a comprehensive unit. Everything you need to cover your geography standards is inside. Each lesson becomes more challenging, and students will practice a variety of reading, writing, research, and discussion skills. The lesson plans are detailed with suggestions to add, adjust, or remove activities depending on the time you have to complete each lesson. The unit includes more than you need for students to grasp each concept.

What Makes this Unit Unique?
This geography unit is way more than worksheets. It is a robust source of lessons, activities, crafts, projects, and other unique ways of learning. This unit is skill-based, which means students will practice essential skills while learning about geography. Skills like having respectful discussions, critical thinking, research, navigation, presentation, and more!

Why You’ll Love this Unit:

  • Easy-to-Use

You don’t need to be a geography expert. This unit has you covered! Everything is included: high-quality lesson plans, worksheets, and answer keys, so that you can teach with confidence.

  • Engaging for Students

Geography doesn’t have to be boring! These lessons keep students actively involved through interactive activities and crafts that will help them master elementary geography skills no matter what set of standards you use.

  • Enjoyable to Teach

You became a teacher because you love teaching, not because you love spending hours on lesson prep. This unit saves you time with 15 fully planned lessons, each designed to last 50 minutes, so you can focus on what you do best!

How to Use in the Classroom

This unit has 15 lessons, each with 50 minutes of instruction and activities. For younger students, you may want to budget extra time, or select fewer activities.

  • For 3rd, 4th, and 5th Grade Students

The reading passages are written at a 3rd-4th grade reading level. 5th grade students will be able to complete the activities more or less independently.

If you teach younger students, I recommend reading and analyzing the reading passages with your students. Check out the reviews on TPT to see how teachers at your grade level have successfully used and loved this unit.

  • In-Person & Remote Learning

I designed this unit to primarily be printed out and used in an in-person classroom.

  • Traditional Classroom vs. Homeschooling

This World Geography Unit was designed to be used in a traditional school setting. Almost every lesson includes some type of group work with peers. The activities are interactive and often get kids out of their seats. That being said, many homeschooling parents successfully use my units. Before purchasing, know that some lessons must be modified for homeschooling settings.
